REA VAYA'S ROAD MARKINGS TO SET TONE FOR SA AND SADC

The Rea Vaya team is currently in the process of developing a Guideline on Traffic Control Devices specifically for BRT systems. This covers all lane markings, including lane colourisation, which will be used in Johannesburg for Rea Vaya, as well as for the other BRT systems constructed across South Africa. Read more

Construction UPDATE!! While road upgrades are progressing briskly, construction of stations in the Ellis Park loop, Nascrec and Soweto sections are nearing completion.
Greater Ellis Park Saratoga Avenue The BRT layerworks and southern widening for mixed traffic lanes are finished and the asphalt overlays for all the layers are about 80% complete. Rumble blocks have been installed for the full length of the road. Additionally, road marking and erection of signage are progressing well. Relocation of services is complete, except for a length of a water main on the sidewalk between Banket and Nugget Streets Read more

Station in focus: Regina Mundi The Regina Mundi station will be situated on Chris Hani Road in Soweto, close to picturesque Thokoza Park; famous club, The Rock; and Pimville Golf Club. The station was aptly named Regina Mundi after Soweto's largest Catholic Church. Not only has the vast church always been a spiritual haven for thousands of Sowetans, it has also played a pivotal role in the township's history of resistance against apartheid. Read more |
