PLEASE be advised that construction work will take place at the intersection of Jan Smuts Avenue and Empire Road over the weekends of 21/22 May 2011 and 28/29 May 2011. The construction will be implemented in two phases so that half of the intersection remains open to the traffic while the other half is closed to allow for construction works to take place.  The traffic will be accommodated as follows:

• Stage 1 – The east and west-bound traffic lanes will not be affected during construction.  However, the turning lanes for motorists travelling in the east and west-bound lanes will be reduced to one lane (Please refer to the diagram at the back of this leaflet).

• Stage 2 – Traffic travelling in the north and south-bound traffic lanes will be diverted either left or right of the construction area, depending on which side of the road is being constructed (Please refer to the diagram at the back of this leaflet).

Please note that the traffic signals will be operational during construction. We urge motorists to follow the route diversions onsite and adhere to the instructions of the traffic marshals at all times. Thank you for your cooperation and patience.
