BUS Rapid Transit systems as the future of sustainable mobility in African cities will be the focus of the second Congress and Exhibition of Public Transport in Africa.
THE African branch of the International Association of Public Transport (UATP) is holding a conference and exhibition to demonstrate the impact of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) systems on African cities from 7 to 11 October, at the Nasrec Expo Cenre.
Rea Vaya will be represented at the second Congress and Exhibition of Public Transport in Africa by its senior managers who will be speakers on the various forums. The conference is hosted by the Gauteng department of roads and transport and will run under the umbrella theme of “BRT as a solution for sustainable mobility”.
Rehana Moosajee, the member of the Joburg mayoral committee responsible for transport, is the African vice-president of the UATP and will chair some sessions of the conference. Round table talks will be geared towards a common goal of promoting BRTs.
In addition, Rea Vaya will have a stand on the exhibition floor, where a model of Rea Vaya will illustrate how the system functions. Staff members will be on hand to speak to visitors about the Rea Vaya and how it has transformed public transport for the better in Johannesburg.
For more information about the conference, visit the International Association of Public Transport website or the website of the association’s African branch.
