REA VAYA will be offering a high frequency service on Saturday the 22nd of May 2010 in order to cater for soccer supporters who will be attending the Nedbank Challenge Final at Soccer City. Bulls fans are also able to use Rea Vaya to the Orlando Stadium. "We are very excited to be testing the readiness of Rea Vaya for the World Cup", said MMC Rehana Moosajee, MMC for Transport in the City of Joburg. "We will also be testing the Soccer City Rea Vaya Stations including the recently opened one right on the Soweto Highway", she added. The high frequency service will operate on the trunk route (T1) which starts from Thokoza Park Station, past Soccer City into the CBD and ends at the Rea Vaya Ellis Park Station. The buses will commence with picking up soccer fans from 10h00 to 14h40 at Thokoza Park and from 11h00 to 14h40 at Ellis Park. The buses will stop at all the stations on the trunk route (T1). Soccer Fans going to the stadium have to purchase return tickets for R 12.00 (2 x R6 tickets, one to go there and the other to come back) before the game. No tickets will be sold from Soccer City and after the game. Fans coming from Ellis Park Rea Vaya Station and the CBD will use the recently completed Soccer City Rea Vaya Station and those coming from Thokoza Park Rea Vaya Station will use the Nasrec Rea Vaya Station. We are working together with PSL and additional security and marshals will be available to direct passengers. While there will be increased frequencies for a Saturday and especially around match times, the Rea Vaya plans also to cater for their usual Saturday passengers. The Rea Vaya will complement other Park and Ride and Park and Walk arrangements that have been made by the organizers of the two matches. The Bulls organizers have arranged Park and Rides from both Centurion and Nasrec Expo Centre. The PSL has arranged Park and Walks from Shareworld and along Nasrec Road. "We urge all match holders to plan their trips and give themselves enough time to get to the match" said MMC Moosajee. "This is particularly important because one of the planned modes for the 2010, rail is likely not to be operational and the new N17 link to Soweto will only be open at the end of the month. Nevertheless coupled with the current spirit of excitement and anticipation in the streets of our country for the 2010 Soccer World Cup, I am sure that everybody will exercise patience and consideration", she concludes.
