Rea Vaya BRT bus drivers embark on illegal work stoppage, Monday 14 June 2010
THE Rea Vaya BRT bus service today successfully transported thousands of World Cup soccer fans to Soccer City for the match between Denmark and the Netherlands.
However some Rea Vaya BRT bus drivers embarked on an illegal work stoppage during the course of this activity.
The temporary bus company (Clidet’s) management are at the moment determining what decisive action to take against this illegal action and the consequences for tomorrow’s service.
The Rea Vaya BRT has put in place contingency measures so that all soccer fans who arrived via Rea Vaya from Constitution Hill Park and Ride or from Soweto will still be transported back using Rea Vaya.
However, the less than 1 000 fans who used Westgate and CBD stations will be requested to use Metrorail free to go back to Westgate rail station.
They will then be transported free of charge to their various Rea Vaya stations within the CBD and to Ellis Park with Metrobus.
The Rea Vaya BRT apologises for any inconvenience caused.
