Rea Vaya is glad to announce that Piotrans, the bus operator contracted to operate the current Rea Vaya bus services, and its drivers have reached an agreement that will result in the commencement of the Rea Vaya Services on Tuesday 27 September 2011 after a protracted strike of more than 8 weeks.
The following operational arrangements has been made to ensure the smooth resumption of the Rea Vaya services
Afternoon of Tuesday 27 September 2011
- A limited frequency service will commence operating between Soweto and the CBD stations from 14:00 today, Tuesday 27 September 2011. The following services will be operated in this manner:

- The Protea Glen and Naledi feeder services
- The Dobsonville to CBD complementary route
As from Wednesday 28 September 2011
- Operation of the full Rea Vaya service timetable that was in place before the strike will commence operating again on the morning of Wednesday 28 September 2011. This includes all feeder, complementary and trunk services
- All valid tickets still in the possession of passengers that were purchased before the strike will remain valid
- Tickets will be available from vendors and stations as from the afternoon of Tuesday 27 September 2011
Rea Vaya and the City of Johannesburg wishes to apologize once again to all Rea Vaya passengers for the hardship and inconvenience caused by the protracted strike by the Piotrans drivers.
